Math Quiz and Blog Experiment Update

The feedback I've had so far has been that the experiment and/or quiz was too complicated and made heads spin. Here's a hopefully more simplified version. Even if you can't answer the problem, link to it as someone else may be able to.

RULES

  1. Do not answer the problem in the comments section - e-mail me instead.
  2. Link to THIS blog entry from your blog, social networking site or web site with the contents of this experiment.
  3. Once you've linked to this post, drop a comment with a link back to your post of the experiment or comment that you sent me an e-mail.
  4. Use the comment section for clarification, discussion, but please keep it positive.

PROBLEM

Find a number with the following characteristics
  • whole number (no decimals) X
  • positive (must be greater than 0)
  • product of the number with any other positive whole number Y produces Z
     X * Y = Z
  • if you sum the place values of Z you end up with the original number, X
  • if two place values are greater than 10, sum those two place values together
    example value of Z (19111)
Adding 1 + 9 = 10 so according the final bullet point above, you would take "10" and sum the 1 and the 0 together to get "1" before adding it to the rest of the place values.

Have fun and I look forward to your answers, links and general comments.
