Anyone that has been following this blog would know that almost a year ago I blew my knee out playing indoor soccer. It's been a long road to recovery, longer than I had anticipated and still taking more time than I'd like.

Tomorrow night I'll be playing in my first competitive match since the blow out. I must admit that I'm a little more than apprehensive as in the last 3 weeks I've experienced a lot of discomfort with my knee, both on and off the practice field.

Oddly enough, some of the most excruciating pain has come from just getting up off of the bed. Something about the position I've been in has caused my hamstring, of something next to it behind the knee, to just fail. The pain usually last for the better part of a half of a day then eases away over the next couple of days. It struck again last night which has left me with more than one doubt over my readiness to play again.

But I really want to play again. I dearly enjoy the sport. I love the comradeship and the feel of the grass under my cleats. I love the feel of a great shot on goal or a nice defensive move.

Honestly though, I'm not too encouraged that much of that will happen tomorrow night as I'm not even 80% right now. Trying to play like I am will be a little frustrating and I'l have to constantly remind myself that I need to slow down and play easy so as to not exacerbate the knee. But it should be fun anyway.
