A Record-Breaking Ton of Food: Literally

Yes, if you followed my post on annoying phrases and linked to Oxford's list, you may have seen "literally" on the list of either annoying or overused phrases. But today I'm using the phrase properly when I state that my wife and her friend canned a ton of food, literally!

On Wednesday of this week, my wonderful and ever mindful-of-our-current-economic-state paid a visit to our church's cannery which is adjacent to the storehouse I served in a couple of weeks ago. Wednesdays are "open" days where you can can any item they have at your cost of product and labor but the items are usually 1/4 or 1/3 the cost of wholesale so it's well worth the trip and effort.

At the end of the day, the two women canned a total of 2000 lbs of food for home storage. LITERALLY!

For more info on why we would store that much wheat, black and white beans, onions, potatoes, please see http://providentliving.org

Are you prepared, temporally, to meet the hunger needs of your family?
